Ireland take on Australia later today as they look to bounce back from last week’s defeat against the All Blacks.
Michael Cheika’s side are in search of a northern hemisphere grand slam while Joe Schmidt’s men will be hoping they can round of the series with a win that will see them make history as the first Irish side to have beaten all three of traditional southern mega-powers in one season.
The two sides have endured a mixed history over the years with wins going back and forth over the years. The two sides currently side fourth and fifth in the world and go into the game evenly matched according to many pundits.
Back in 2011 however Ireland were very much the underdogs at he Rugby World Cup. Declan Kidney’s men had endured a stuttering start but went on to shock the Wallabies in a historic 15-6 win.
That game however is perhaps more fondly remember for a certain Stephen Ferris moment rather than the result itself…
