It’s been a memorable year for Irish rugby.
This past weekend Joe Schmidt’s men finally defeated the moghty All Blacks after 111 years of trying. It was a truly memorable game in which Ireland bagged five tries in a 40-29 win on the way to a famous victory.
It’s not the first time Ireland made history this year however. Back in June Ireland travelled down to South Africa to take on the mighty Springboks in search of a first ever victory over the former champions in their backyard.
Despite suffering a red card early in the first-half, with South African born CJ Stander given his marching orders, Ireland hung on and made history. That journey was documented last night on a special RTE One documentary.
We caught up and watched the documentary this morning and couldn’t help but notice just how good that final tackle on JP Pietersen was to clinch victory. Four Irish men committed to the tackle just sums up how much they wanted to win that game.
Check it out below, it’s something special.
