World Rugby has released it’s latest World Rankings today following this past weekend’s international fixtures.
It was a busy weekend for rugby, with a host of nations in action. Argentina demolished Japan in Tokyo 54-20 in Tokyo, Wales were humiliated at the Principality as they went down 32-8 to Michael Cheika’s Wallabies, while Ireland made history by defeating the All Blacks for the first time in history after 111 years of trying with a 40-29 win.
The results have had a huge impact on this morning’s release of the World Rankings. Argentina have climbed a whopping three places from ninth to sixth following their impressive win, while Wales find themselves in trouble after dropping two places to seventh in the table. The two sides battle it out this weekend in what is a must win for both as they look ahead to seeding for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Ireland’s historic win means they move up one place to 5th, solidifying a potential seeding spot for the Rugby World Cup. Elsewhere there was no movement with New Zealand topping the table, followed in order by England, Australia and South Africa.
