This is beautiful.
Thousands of people are expected in Killaloe, Co. Clare today as Anthony Foley’s remains are laid out in his hometown. The Munster and Ireland legend’s body is lying in repose at St Flannan’s Church in the village ahead of tomorrow’s funeral from 1pm to 8.30pm.
Foley died suddenly in Paris last weekend as he prepared his team for their opening round Champions Cup clash with Racing 92. In wake of his tragic passing, mourners have been out in force to honour and pay their respects.
“People intending on paying their respects to Anthony are asked to attend early,” a spokesperson for the Foley family said.
Munster Rugby has requested that a minute’s silence be observed at all European rugby matches taking place this weekend.
The funeral Mass will take place at midday on Friday at St Flannan’s Church, with the church reserved for family and friends only.
A beautiful shrine has been set up on a signpost to Killaloe, which can be seen below.
