Ronan O’Gara and Anthony Foley shared many a battle together.
Before the tragic news broke this afternoon, Foley’s Munster were set to take on O’Gara’s Racing 92. It would have been the first time in history that two of rugby’s oldest friends met on opposing sides.
Unfortunately we will now never see that happen as we mourn the loss of one of Ireland’s most famous sporting heroes. Foley epitomised rugby and was an inspiration to many player’s who came through the ranks and played with him over the years.
Ronan O’Gara was lucky enough to be one of those players. You can’t imagine for one second what people like ROG are going through, having been so close to Foley for so long. This tweet he has just sent out will give you some idea of how hard a day its been.
Alone on the couch with Jess.Heartbroken.We have lost an incredible man. Too sad to tweet further.. sleep well Axel. We love you..xxx
