Munster’s James Cronin has been banned for four weeks for a stamp on in the 25-14 loss to Leinster at the Aviva on Saturday.
Cronin was charged under Law 10.4 (b) after appearing to make contact with the face of Leinster replacement scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park at this 73rd minute ruck.
A disciplinary hearing today said the incident ‘warranted a red card’ and banned Cronin for four weeks ruling him out until November 7.
He does however have the right to appeal.
A statement from the Pro12 today read:
“Having heard submissions on sanction, the Disciplinary Committee concluded that the offending was at the mid range of World Rugby’s scale of seriousness for this type of offending, which has an entry point of 5 weeks.
“After taking into account mitigating factors, the Disciplinary Committee determined the appropriate sanction to be a playing suspension of 4 weeks.”
Cronin will miss Munster’s opening two Champions Cup games against Racing 92 and Glasgow.
