Not impressed.
Ireland were undone by Australia this morning in an absolutely bruising encounter in front of 45,000 people at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
Michael Cheika’s side were very physical throughout the encounter in a ferocious Test match. But the Wallabies made countless errors in the first-half, and Ireland led with 25 minutes to go.
The problem was – Ireland failed to capitalise on these mistakes, while Australia converted the couple of chances they did have, outscoring Ireland by two tries to nil in an 18-9 win.
But a lot of people felt the game was affected by some poor decisions by referee Marius van der Westhuizen – on both sides. Even Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt found it hard to hide his frustration.
Namely the disallowed CJ Stander try as well as Stockdale being pinged on his try-line, despite clearly releasing the ball. Have a watch below.
