Former Super Rugby champions, the Chiefs are currently looking for a replacement for head coach Dave Rennie.
Rennie is the man who will be replacing Gregor Townsend for the 2017/18 season, with Townsend set to take over from current Scotland coach Vern Cotter. Cotter has now today been linked with the Chiefs job, in what would see all three coaches change sides in somewhat of a merry go round.
Cotter however is not the only man linked according to Stuff.co.nz, with Joe Schmidt another leading contender. Schmidt is still yet to sign an extension to his contract which expires next year, and with rumours of family difficulties and a desire to coach the New Zealand national side, it may be an offer to good to refuse.
The Chiefs job would no doubt act as a springboard for the national job role for Schmidt or Cotter. It’s gonna be an interesting few month…
