Ulster have been dealt a huge blow ahead of the new season with news that Ireland international winger Jacob Stockdale will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks with a grade 2 hamstring strain.
The 22-year-old picked up the injury in training last week and will now likely be unavailable for selection until October. This puts him as a doubt for Ulster’s Champions Cup opener that same month.

The northern province are already without Louis Ludik and Luke Marshall for much of the coming season, and lost the likes of Andrew Trimble, Tommy Bowe and Jared Payne to retirement over the summer.
Wallaby Henry Speight has been brought in as short-term cover, along with new signing Will Addison. But Ulster are still going likely struggle with their backline in the coming weeks and months.
