Leigh Halfpenny is running out of time.
Wasps are the latest club to pull out of the running to sign Lions fullback Leigh Halfpenny. The Welsh international is currently a free agent having been let go by French side Toulon at the end of the season.
A return home was ruled out last week with none of the regions able to afford his staggering wages and now Dai Young’s Wasps have ruled out a move for the former Cardiff Blues man. Wasps say they have “moved on” from trying to sign Halfpenny as another door closes on the Wales star.
“We were really keen to get Leigh on board and we tried over a period of months,” Wasps director of rugby Dai Young told The Rugby Paper.
“But we found it very hard to get a decision out of him and in the end we couldn’t get one. We have moved on since then.”
Bath now appears to be his likeliest destination.
