Paul O’Connell sat down with Matt Cooper today in a telling interview, discussing many things including his World Cup woes, the extent of his injury, his road to recovery and what the future holds.
O’Connell has revealed that he will indeed work his way to recovery and see out his two-year Toulon contract. O’Connell also revealed he will rehabilitate his injury in France and not in Ireland.
Matt Cooper finished the interview with an interesting question. He noted that several players in the past who were previously retired from International duty have made themselves available and been picked for the Lions, he then asked O’Connell would he make himself available.
O’Connell unfortunately ruled it out. “No, not that I’d get picked, but definitely not.” Who knows? A lot can happen in the next two years… Watch this space.
