The Ospreys have indicated they are more intent on trying to retain Wales stars Alun Wyn Jones and Rhys Webb rather than launching a bid to sign Lions full-back Leigh Halfpenny.
French big-spenders Toulon had their official 2015/16 team photograph this week but Halfpenny was nowhere to be seen as the likes of Paul O’Connell, Ma’a Nonu and Quade Cooper posed with their new team-mates and staff.
The injured full-back’s contract is up at the end of the season and there have been reports strongly linking the 26-year-old with a return to Wales.
It is believed Halfpenny turned down an offer from Aviva Premiership side Wasps because he had concerns over how it would affect his international career.
His stance on the issue would appear to rule out a move to any other English club and would suggest he is looking to join one of the Welsh regions.
The Scarlets are now favourites for his signature with old club Cardiff Blues also in the hunt.
