The force is strong in Toulon.
Toulon beat Racing over the weekend 17-11 thanks to a Ma’a Nonu try. The game will be remembered however for two things- Basteraud’s unbelievable performance and Leigh Halfpenny’s bizarre conversion following Nonu’s try.
Halfpenny is a pretty decent kicker, but managed to make an absolute hash of this conversion, but to be fair there was the small matter of some outside influence as he readied himself for the kick.
As the Lions star stepped up, the Star Wars theme belted out around the Stade Felix Mayol on the PA system. It’s one of the most bizarre things we’ve ever seen happen during a game and Halfpenny was far from impressed as his kick went way wide.
Lucky for him it didn’t matter in the end and his side still got the win. Someone however, is in trouble for this one.
