The games, the plays the moments will long live in our memory. Japan 2019 can come soon enough, but first let’s take a look back at 5 of the most memorable moments.

Japan Stun The Springboks

On just the second day we were treated with one of the most heroic and braves performances by a team in history. The Brave Blossoms defeated the mighty Springboks in an epic encounter that sent the world into rapture. We knew then it was going to be a special Rugby World Cup.

England Sent Packing

“We always back ourselves at home.” England were the first hosts in history to get sent home at the group stages. Twice beaten at Twickenham by both Wales an finalists Australia, Stuart Lancaster’s side were the casualty in the ‘group of death’.

Madigan’s Tears

Ireland were left stunned in Cardiff against France when first playmaker Jonny Sexton fell, then the great Paul O’Connell and finally Munster talisman Peter O’Mahony. Ireland had it all to do but one man took that challenge and ran with it. Ian Madigan came on and gave the performance of his life as Ireland toppled the French. The moment came when Madigan looked up to the crowd after the game and saw his parents, instantly reducing him to tears. Good man Gazza!

Ma’a Nonu’s Sensational World Cup Final Try

The offloads, the lines, the step… A try that encapsulates the All Black game. It was Ma’a Nonu’s final game for the All Blacks and boy did he step up. Dan Carter may have ran the show on the day but as a squad the All Blacks were a joy to watch and rightfully cemented their place in the history books.

Sonny Bill Gives His World Cup Medal To A Young Fan.

Sonny Bill Williams said after the World Cup final that he had seen a security guard ‘smoke’ a young fan with a tackle right in front of him.

Feeling empathy with the young fan – who was clearly exuberant that his country had just won the World Cup – Williams presented him with his winner’s medal.
