If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the past few months, it’s that a rugby community is a special place.
The death of Anthony Foley has had a profound effect on the community as a whole, but they way in which his life has been honoured has been nothing short of remarkable.
From Ireland’s figure of eight, to the Maori All Black’s special jersey, the Axel tributes have been class personified. Racing 92 are a side that deserve a huge pat on the back for their efforts following the tragic passing.
The fans opened their homes and built guards of honour, while the club did everything in their power to help Munster in their time of need. Last night’s game however, may have trumped them all.
The French side were t-shirts in their warm-up once again, before walking out of the tunnel side by side with Munster in an act of unity. Something that has never been seen before in European rugby.
A wreath was also laid on the pitch before kick-off to remember the late, great captain and head coach. Thank you Racing, you’ve been amazing.
