This guy is the real deal.
Chris Cloete is the the name on everyone’s lips after the last two rounds of the Champions Cup. The South African openside arrived at Munster a few weeks before the European window, and hugely impressed in the PRO14.
The question then was can he do it at the highest level in Europe? Well that has well and truly been answered after two barnstorming displays against the Leicester Tigers over the last couple of weekends.
He covered almost every blade of grass in the Thomond Park clash, constantly making himself a nuisance at the breakdown, and yesterday showed off his incredible pace in a race for the ball with Jonny May.
The England winger is regarded as one of the fastest men in world rugby, but he was no match for the South African, who despite being behind May and six of his Munster teammates, got back and saved a certain try.
This guy could turn out to be the signing of the season if he keeps this up. A lovely going away present from Rassie Erasmus.
