This is fascinating.
Scarlets and Wales centre Jonathan Davies joined Brian O’Driscoll on Rugby Tonight this week to illustrate some of the different challenges faced when playing at No.13.
O’Driscoll and Davies were the Lions pairing in 2013 for the first two tests, until O’Driscoll’s highly controversial exclusion in the third test in favour of a Davies and Roberts partnership.
O’Driscoll sights the reasoning for this was both player’s were out and out thirteen’s, with neither feeling entirely comfortable at twelve.
The video below see’s both players talking through some of their finer moments at thirteen and what exactly it is that makes a good outside centre. It’s a truly fascinating watch and really interesting to hear from two of the very best thirteen’s the game has ever seen.
