Ulster have revealed they are closing in on a replacement for Paddy Jackson while the young playmaker deals with his charges.
Both Jackson and teammate Stuart Olding have been stepped down from their duties at both national and international level while they deal with the serious allegations.
Ulster as a result will need to bring in some cover at outhalf, with chief executive Shane Logan revealing a deal is close.
“Since the unfortunate story emerged over a year ago we’ve had our radar and contacts out and had a list of possible out-halves to provide cover,” Logan told BBC Sport in an interview on Tuesday.
“At this time it’s not easy to get the out-half that we want as we are about to embark on a new season but we are optimistic that we will announce someone favourable sooner rather than later.”
