Fabien Galthié will take over as Toulon’s Director of Rugby at the end of the season.
He will be assisted by Fabrice Landreau and Marc Dal Maso who will retain his functions with the first team. He and Fabrice Landreau have signed two-year contracts.
Mike Ford will make way for Galthié, with Toulon revealing that they and the former Bath coach have decided not to activate the option for an additional season in his contract. Galthié, a former France scrumhalf has had previous spells coaching Stade Francais and Montpellier.
After being recruited as an assistant coach, Ford was appointed manager in October last year in place of Diego Domnguez following the club’s poor start to the season. The French giants currently lie fourth in the Top 14 and face Clermont in the quarter finals of the Champions Cup next month,
Toulon said in a statement that Ford “wishes to commit himself to another project from next summer but will fulfil his mission until the end of the season with the uttermost professionalism and seriousness.”
