Warren Gatland will be without 2013 tourist Richie Gray for the beginning of next summer’s Lions tour should he chose to select him after his club side Toulouse revealed they will not release the Scottish lock in time.
Gethan Jenkins was told the same in 2013 by his club at the time, Toulon and it looks like Gray will be the latest, and probably not the last casualty of a hectic schedule which sees the Lions tour kick-off in June.
Leigh Halfpenny has already stated he will be released in time should he get selected but with Aviva chiefs along with Top 14 chiefs not happy with the placement and length of the Lions schedule, Gatland may find himself in a tug of war situation come next year.
