In the aftermath of last weekends European Champions Cup clash between the Northampton Saints and the Scarlets, Jim Mallinder told the assembled media that he was confident that George North would extend his stay with the English club.
Although reports in Wales suggested that the Lions winger would re-join the Scarlets, the Welsh club have since cooled their interest, adding to the confidence of the Saints.
However Wales Online have today reported that North could yet join the Cardiff Blues this summer. Although the Welsh website did concede that North would attract interest from numerous clubs, the Welsh Rugby Union are in confident mood after convincing Jonathan Davies to return to the Scarlets.
The Blues recently announced that they would be trimming their squad to make way for big signings.
Nevertheless, although North would be offered a national dual contract if he did decide to return to Wales, Blues boss, Danny Wilson, did concede, ‘the market value of some of these players makes it very difficult to be in the chase’.
