Ireland already now have 15 players injured or doubtful for the remainder of their Six Nations campaign.
Ireland trained at Mullingar RFC today and head coach Joe Schmidt admitted both Dave Kearney [shoulder] and Sean O’Brien [hamstring] are likely to miss the remainder of the championship. Mike McCarthy, who was badly concussed in Paris, may be out of action for the rest of the season.
Johnny Sexton also rolled his ankle and was forced to sit out the session. He took a light part in prep drills but was on the sidelines as the heavy hitting and set plays began.
Simon Zebo also sat out the session with a knee injury that saw him miss the France game.
Ireland already have Iain Henderson, Peter O’Mahony, Tommy Bowe, Luke Fitzgerald and Marty Moore ruled out with Cian Healy, Mike Ross, Jared Payne, Keith Earls and Chris Henry all battling to recover or gain game time in time for the England clash.
