We reported yesterday that Jared Payne was a major doubt ahead of this Saturday’s clash with England.
Ireland’s new look squad trained at Carton House this morning will all players togged. Jared Payne however while kitted, sat out the training session. Today is the penultimate training run before Joe Schmidt decides on his team to face England and signals point towards Payne missing out.
Payne got injured in the France game and played the entire second half with a grade one hamstring tear. His absence has now made way for Stuart McCloskey to make his much anticipated debut.
Official word on Payne’s fitness will be delivered this afternoon.
