Plenty of publications have had a go at naming their team of the tournament this past week but now we’ve got our hands on the official team according to the stats.
The team is based entirely on statistical data and analysis of players’ performances by the tournament’s official data partners Accenture. The team consists of three Englishmen, three Irish, four Welsh, two Scots, two Frenchmen and an Italian.
Conor Murray pips the likes of Greg Laidlaw and Gareth Davies in selection, while there’s no surprises that England duo Maro Otoje and George Kruis make up the second-row. South African born Ireland backrow CJ Stander makes the cut after a series of impressive performances, while Dan Biggar edges out Johnny Sexton and George Ford.
