Bundee Aki has been linked with a move away from Connacht in recent weeks.
The Kiwi’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with the centre linked with a possible move to Munster along with Ultan Dillane, as well as a possible big money move to Premiership side Bristol.
The IRFU are said to be keen to hold on to the star, who becomes eligible for Ireland next year, due to the three year residency rule. Reports today are now suggesting that Aki will indeed sign a new three-year deal with Connacht with the help of the IRFU.
The deal could be announced as early as November and would be seen as a massive coup for both Ireland and Connacht.
Aki would become available for Ireland selection in October 2017, should he sign a deal with the IRFU.
