Tadhg Furlong is quickly reaching legendary status in Ireland.
The prop has been a revelation in recent months, cementing his position as Ireland’s long-term solution at tighthead and put in another absolute stormer of a performance against the All Blacks on Saturday.
Furlong was everywhere the weekend, trucking his way through the All Blacks with some excellent carries and monstrous tackles. He put in another excellent shift at scrum time and is quickly becoming a hero in Ireland at just 24.
We’ve all seen the front-row demolish three All Blacks at this stage but he’s gone even better again with his post-match comments with the Independent. When asked about his performance and the super shift he had put in, Furlong had this to say:
“I pretty much emptied the tank out there,” Furlong said.
“It felt pretty frantic. The ball was in play for long periods, or what felt like long periods and there were a few scrums (too).
I was sucking diesel for a lot of it. A lot of it passes you by and it’s only when you look back that you say, ‘I remember that now.'”
What an absolute legend! A true Irish warrior.
