Back to where it all began.
All Blacks centre Sonny Bill Williams will likely make a return to Rugby League when his current contract the the NZRU expires following the 2019 Rugby World Cup. Williams began his career in league, before switching to union.
Midway through his career Williams once again returned to league before a move back to union to help the All Blacks lift the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He has since had a stint in sevens before rejoining the All Blacks for the business 2019 Rugby World Cup cycle.
Reports in Australia now suggest he will finish his career in league, with a move to England with the Wigan Warriors being mooted. A move back to the Syndey Roosters has also been discussed with boss Nick Politis having lunch last week with SBW’s agent.
Whether or not the NRL club can match the money on offer in England remains to be seen. But a move back to league following the world cup seems highly likely.
