The “scummy Irish” have done it.
Ireland have been crowned Grand Slam champions for the first time in nearly a decade, after an incredible performance at Twickenham this afternoon.
Tries from Garry Ringrose, CJ Stander and Jacob Stockdale proved to be enough as Ireland claimed a 24-14 win agains their English rivals, in their backyard, on Paddy’s Day.
It was almost surreal at times to see Ireland take such control in Twickenham. To win is one thing, but the manner is which they did it deserved some serious plaudits. The scoreline flattered England, Ireland were always in control, and never looked like losing.
Ronan O’Gara was among those who congratulated Ireland on their win with a Tweet. And what a Tweet it was.
Feels a bit strange because it was so easy. The forwards eat them for dinner!!Twickenham tamed. Great day for a lot of warriors in green.🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪👌🏻👌🏻
