Robbie Henshaw – ‘Ireland & Leinster Need To Be Even Better This Season’

Even better.

Leinster’s 2017/18 campaign will live long in the memory. The eastern province destroyed everyone in their path on the way to a famous PRO14 and Champions Cup double.

Ireland’s 2017/18 wasn’t too shabby either. A clean sweep in November was followed up by a Six Nations Grand Slam and a first series win over the Wallabies in Australia in nearly 40 years.

One man who played a huge role in both of those teams was Robbie Henshaw. The centre was pivotal for club and country, but by no means is he resting on his laurels after a season most players could only dream about.

Henshaw admits it was an incredible season, and will be hard to top. But as far as he is concerned – Ireland and Leinster are ready to go again. But this season, they need to be even better.

“It was a great year for Irish Rugby and Leinster Rugby. I think we brought the experiences that we had from two seasons ago into last season and we learned from it.” Henshaw told us.

“But I think going into this season the goal is to repeat what we did. You know every other team is going to get better. Every international team, every club team are going to get better. So in the green shirt (Ireland) and with Leinster we need to get better again.”

“It’s about improvement and getting better ultimately. I think we need to learn from a few things that happened last year as well and look at how we could have done things differently.”

“It’s going to be incredibly hard to top what we did last year, but I think everyone in the group in Leinster is keen to go again.”

Robbie Henshaw was speaking to us as Head Coach of Team RugbyLAD who will represent Ireland in this year’s Canterbury Rugby Fit series. Check out the first episode with Pat Divilly teaching the lads some Mental Agility Skills below. You can also download the full training programme here.
