It wasn’t a bad day for Northern Hemisphere sides yesterday.
Wales were unlucky against the All Blacks, while Ireland and England secured hugely impressive wins against South Africa and Australia respectively. The Rugby World Cup draw is set to take place next May, with all games between now and day of huge importance for seeding purposes.
Both England and Ireland have received World Ranking’s boosts as a result of the wins. Ireland still stay in seventh, but they’ve put nearly four points between themselves and France in eighth. More importantly, they are now only 0.26 away from Argentina in fifth place.
England’s win over Australia, and South Africa’s loss sees Eddie Jones’ men rise to third, and they are closing in on Australia’s hold on second. Any sort of English victory in the next test will see the English overtake Australia in the rankings.
