France international Thomas Ramos has reportedly agreed a shock move from Toulouse to Racing 92 when his contract expires at the end of the season.
According to L’Equipe, the 31-year-old full-back will leave his boyhood club after the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia and join Racing 92 ahead of the 2027/28 campaign.
The move would bring an end to Ramos’ long association with Toulouse, where he has made 200 senior appearances and played a key role in the club’s recent success, helping the club win four consecutive Top 14 titles.
Ramos entered the final year of his contract without agreeing fresh terms, allowing him to begin discussions with rival clubs from 1 July. La Rochelle were also linked with the France international, but Racing 92 are now set to secure one of the biggest signings of the transfer market.
RugbyPass reports that Toulouse’s recent salary cap issues may have played a role in the move. The club was recently fined €2.88 million for salary cap breaches and breaches of transparency regulations, with Ramos reportedly keen to stay before financial pressures opened the door for Racing 92.
Neither Toulouse nor Racing 92 have officially confirmed the transfer. However, if the report proves accurate, it would mark the end of an era for one of French rugby’s biggest stars.
