Top 14 champions Racing 92 have today confirmed the signing of All Black legend Ali Williams.
The 35 year-old lock hung up his boots at the end of the 2015 season after a successful stint with rivals Toulon, that saw him win three European cups in a row.
Williams has been doing a bit of punditry work with a variety of broadcasters in recent times, including Sky Sports and has most recently been working as a media advisor to Dan Carter at Racing.
The move has come as a shock to the rugby world, but must be seen as a massive coup for Racing, providing Williams can still do it at the top level. Racing’s other signings for next season include Leone Nakarawa, James Hart and Anthony Tuitavake as they look to retain their Top 14 title and go once step further in the Champions Cup, having come up short in the final against Saracens.
