Moving on.
South African lock Gerbrandt Grobler’s one-year deal with Munster will not be extended, with the former Racing 92 man set to depart the province at the end of the season.
Grobler has been the subject of huge controversy this season, with the media launching an attack on him midway through the season, over a previous doping ban served from 2014-16.
“Yes, Gerbrandt won’t be staying at Munster,” Munster head coach Johann van Graan told the Irish Independent.
“I think it’s a massive loss. He’s a quality player. I thought that was his best 80 minutes for Munster.”
With Munster signing Tadhg Beirne, the writing was always on the wall for Grobler. But his recent performances led many to believe Munster might consider extending his deal.
Grobler will instead move to Premiership side Gloucester, linking up with fellow South African Johan Ackermann.
