Ireland are still adjusting to life without Peter O’Mahony.
The Munster legend only stepped away from international rugby last year, leaving Andy Farrell with the task of replacing one of the squad’s biggest voices and most influential leaders.
That was something Ireland seemed to miss during last autumn’s Tests, although their recent performances suggest the group is beginning to find that edge again.
Speaking on Virgin Media Sport after the game, Josh van der Flier revealed the squad had actually spoken about bringing some O’Mahony-style intensity into the match.
That prompted a discussion in the studio, with presenter Joe Molloy and pundit Conor Murray debating whether Ireland had managed to channel that trademark O’Mahony fire.
But the conversation soon took a humorous turn, as O’Mahony delivered an accidental slip of the tongue that left everyone in the studio laughing…
