Round two.
Ireland are at home this weekend for round two of the Six Nations, with Conor O’Shea’s Italy set to descend upon Dublin.
England got the job done against the Azzurri in Rome this past weekend, grabbing what could be a crucial try-bonus. With Ireland on home soil, they’ll be expected to do the same on Saturday.
The question now is, what team does Schmidt put out? Does he stick to the same side that beat France, knowing the lads have a couple of weeks off after it? Or does he rest some of his top players?
The Italians showed glimpses of what they’re capable of on Sunday, and most definitely can’t be underestimated. But at the same time, what’s the point in having this newfound “depth” if you’re not going to use it.
Is it an opportunity to give Joey Carbery some game time at ten and wrap Sexton in cotton wool for the Wales fixture? Should Jordan Larmour be given a shot? If so, where? Fullback, wing?
