Picking The Ireland Team To Take On Scotland This Weekend

Big calls.

Ireland take on Scotland in Round 2 of the Six Nations this weekend, hoping to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to old rivals England at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.

Schmidt could be without a number of players for the game, with one definitely ruled out in CJ Stander who faces around four weeks out with a facial injury. Andrew Conway also looks to be out, having returned to Munster.

Garry Ringrose, Keith Earls and Devin Toner are also doubts, meaning Schmidt could be forced into a big reshuffle. Sean O’Brien looks to be the favourite to replace Stander, while question marks hang above Robbie Henshaw at fullback.

Rob Kearney is fit and ready, and Schmidt could have a big call to make if Ringrose proves to be fit. Here’s the team WE WOULD select, with alternative options if Ringrose, Earls and Toner aren’t fit.

*UPDATE: Garry Ringrose and Devin Toner have both been ruled out, while Keith Earls trained today and should be fit.
