Perpignan yesterday announced that they signed a World Cup winner.
Yesterday French Pro D2 side, Perpignan announced to their supporters that they had signed World Cup winning All Black, Beauden Barrett. The announcement came via the club app and shocked supporters- Perpignan currently find themselves outside the play off positions in the French second tier, the Pro D2.
Naturally fans of the Catalan club became excited at the prospect of signing Barrett- reminiscent of their capture of Dan Carter in 2009. With all four of their flyhalves injured, some thought that Barrett was joining on a short term contract.
However the hopes and dreams of Perpignan supporters were soon dashed, when the club’s President told L’Indépendant, that the news had been published by mistake and that Barrett would not joining.
