Is he interested though?
Northampton Saints president Keith Barwell has confirmed the Premiership club are interesting in appointing Wales head coach Warren Gatland as their new boss.
Jim Mallinder recently departed Franklin’s Gardens after a string of poor results that sees them languishing down in 10th in the Premiership, and out of Europe before Christmas.
Gatland was apparently in line for the Saints job before Mallinder got it back in 2008, but now it seems he’s top of their wish list this time round.
“When we recruited Jim 10 years ago Warren Gatland was one of those shortlisted,” Barwell told the Daily Mirror.
“We decided not to ring him then. Well I thought we’d give him a second chance.
“I won’t be choosing the coach, let me say that, we’ve got a committee that’s doing that. But I want people to understand that we’re starting from the top not the bottom so, yes, we’re interested in Warren.”
