Matt Giteau’s time in France is coming to an end.
Toulon utility back Matt Giteau has confirmed that he will switch to the Japanese Top League for the 2017/18 season.
The Australia international confirmed the news on his Instagram account on Monday.
Giteau signed a two-year deal back in 2014 with an option of a third, but he has chosen not to take that up and will leave France at the end of the season after six years there.
His former club the Brumbies were said to be chasing his signature, but it seems Giteau wants a fresh challenge and will follow in the footsteps of Wallaby teammate David Pocock, and spend a stint in Japan.
