Leinster sign former player on short-term deal to ease injury crisis
Reinforcements.
Leinster Rugby have announced the short-term loan signing of experienced loosehead prop Ed Byrne from Cardiff Rugby.
Byrne, a familiar face at the province, returns to provide immediate cover and valuable experience to the squad during a demanding period of fixtures.
Byrne came through the Leinster Academy and made 102 appearances for the club before his move to Cardiff at the start of last season.
He will link up with the squad immediately for the remainder of the current block of fixtures.
Head Coach Leo Cullen commented:
“We’re delighted to have Ed back in blue for the remainder of this season.
“Not only is Ed a great character, but he also knows our system inside out, brings valuable experience, and will be a timely boost to our front-row options during what is a very busy and competitive stage of the season.
We’re very grateful to Cardiff Rugby for their understanding and cooperation in facilitating this move.”
