Loosehead.
Leinster’s injury crisis in the front row further worsened over the weekend, with the province now down to just one fit loosehead prop.
With Andrew Porter, Jack Boyle and Paddy McCarthy all sidelined for their quarter-final win over Sale Sharks on Saturday, Alex Usanov was handed a start, but he was forced off after just four minutes with a twisted ankle.
That left Jerry Cahir as Leinster’s only fit loosehead, with the short-term signing who was working in Sales for Vodafone just a few short months ago, getting a taste of knockout rugby on Saturday.
“It’s something that’ll probably be rattling around my head for the next couple of days. There are a few things that could play out. It might give some younger guys an opportunity, which is good, but it’s a tricky time,” Leo Cullen said on Saturday.
And now, according to RugbyPass, Leinster are looking at two of their former players to plug a gap for them until the end of the season.
Ed Byrne, who left the province for Cardiff a couple of seasons ago, and Connacht’s Peter Dooley are both being lined up as potential short-term signings as Leinster look to continue their battle for silverware on both fronts.
