The whole world applauded Sonny Bill Williams following that famous picture last week and Jess Kriel has revealed just what the All Blacks centre said to him.
“He told me not to worry and that everything was going to be okay,” Kriel explained from the Springbok headquarters in London. “That just showed what type of player and person he is. And the pictures prove what rugby is all about. It was great for him to do so.”
The Springboks will face Argentina on Friday night to compete for the bronze medal. Kriel expects Los Pumas to come out firing, especially with ball in hand.
“They play with a lot of passion. And they love to throw the ball around,” said Kriel. “They tackle low and give a huge effort at the breakdowns. It’s going to be a big challenge against them on Friday, but we will be up for it.”
