Munster are set to lose South Arfican World Cup winning prop BJ Botha at the end of the season.
The tighthead was originally expected to leave Munster last season, but then signed a deal until Christmas, before signing a further extension until the end of the season due to Munster’s lack of resources in his position.
Botha however ruptured his ACL against Stade Francais in January and is not expected to play for Munster again. The province are now seeking a replacement but have apparently once again been rebuffed by the IRFU and their transfer policy.
Twice capped Stormers tighthead Vincent Koch has been reportedly approached by the province with the IRFU said to have blocked the move in an effort to make Munster sign a project player instead.
This isn’t the first time Munster have been blocked by the IRFU after the widely publicised move for Wallaby captain Stephen Moore. [H/T Munster Haka]
