Ireland and Leinster have been hit with a major injury blow following their defeat to the Springboks at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday night.
Andy Farrell’s side were defeated 24-13 by South Africa in a chaotic match that saw Ireland on the receiving end of no less than five cards.
And now it has emerged that Ryan Baird has picked up a suspected broken leg that will keep him out for some time.
He looks set to miss Leinster’s Champions Cup fixtures next month and is also now a doubt for the Six Nations.
“Ryan Baird, I believe, has fractured his tibia,” Farrell said after the game.
“He tried to carry on within all that as well, so there was some courage being shown there.”
