We’re still not quite sure what exactly we witnessed last night between Ireland and South Africa.
When the two teams meet, it rarely disappoints, and last night was no different, unless you were an Irish fan that is.
The 24-13 Springbok win was the first in Dublin for head coach Rassie Erasmus, and a first for South Africa since 2012.
But referee Matthew Carley did play a significant role in the result, inflicting an international record on the Irish last night.
Carley gave Ireland five yellow cards (with one of them upgraded to a 20-minute red), which is the joint-most ever handed out in an international.
They now tie the record with Fiji, who also got five yellows in a match against Italy back in 2012.
