On track.
Ireland have finally been handed some good news on the injury front ahead of their Six Nations opener with France on Thursday.
The men in green are set to be without several of their starters for the game as Andy Farrell’s injury list continues to pile up, with the likes of Andrew Porter, Paddy McCarthy, Robbie Henshaw, Bundee Aki and Mack Hansen all unavailable.
But Farrell has been handed a timely boost, with Tadhg Furlong on track to be fit despite being a major doubt this time last week.
Ireland defence coach Simon Easterby has revealed that Furlong has made excellent progress over the last few days.
“He got through some good work actually,” Easterby said.
“He’s progressed really well and we’ve been happy with the majority of the lads who have been training and some of them have come in with little niggles, but everyone’s progressing really well and we had everyone available to train today.”
Easterby added that as things stand, Furlong will be considered to be available for selection against France.
“At the moment, yeah,” Easterby said when asked if Furlong will be available.
“I think today was important and obviously tomorrow will be another important training day, but so far so good.”
