This is why we love rugby.
I’ve been in New Zealand just over a week now for the tour and one thing I have to say is the people of this country are absolutely fantastic. No matter where you go, Kiwi’s will stop and have a chat as soon as they see you’re a travelling rugby fan.
We’ve been offered lifts by strangers, had beers bought for us in every pub and you can’t walk around a corner in your Lions gear without a local wishing you the best of luck in the series.
It’s what rugby is all about and the Kiwis in fairness embody it. A perfect example is this wonderful story involving Rieko & Akira Ioane’s mother and a desperate Lions fan in need of a roof over his head. Rugby at its very best.
