It’s been widely reported that the IRFU want Ian Madigan to join Munster.
However it appears that the Leinster playmaker is in advanced talks with Top 14 side, Bordeaux-Bègles.

The news was reported by L’Equipe this morning, and they have suggested that Madigan met with Bordeaux-Bègles officials on Monday. Although the deal has not yet been done, Bordeaux are confident of signing the Irish outhalf.

It’s well known that Bordeaux missed out on Matt Toomua, who instead chose Leicester. They are currently looking for someone who can play both 10 and 12. Things are niw looking ominous for both the IRFU and Munster.

However, as L’Equipe also state that Bordeaux have three outhalves in their squad, Pierre Bernard, Romain Lonca and Lionel Beauxis and that moving to France would endanger his international career, a deal is not yet certain.
