Long shot.
Ireland are now firmly in the driving seat in terms of the Six Nations championship, thanks to their bonus-point win over Scotland this afternoon.
The win means they are now a massive 10 points clear at the top of the standings, with the championship set to be possibly decided before the day is out. England still have a chance, but it’s a long shot.
They’re currently drawing 9-9 with France the time of writing. But they will need to not only win, but also score four tries in Paris and secure a try-bonus to have any chance of overturning Ireland.
Should they do that they will then have to beat Ireland with a try-bonus at Twickenham, while denying Ireland a bonus-point of any kind in the process.
They ALSO must make up a points difference of +44 between the two games (France and Ireland) to snatch the championship.
It’s possible, but Ireland are most certainly in the driving seat.
