New deal.
Henry Pollock has reportedly secured a significant pay rise after committing his future to Northampton Saints.
The 21-year-old has signed a new multi-year contract with his boyhood club, ending speculation over a possible move away from Franklin’s Gardens.
According to The Guardian, Pollock’s new deal is worth more than £400,000 per season and is believed to run until 2029.
The agreement is understood to have almost tripled his previous Northampton salary, making him one of the highest-paid back-rowers in English rugby.
Pollock also reportedly receives approximately £150,000 annually through his enhanced England contract. He is one of 25 players covered by the Rugby Football Union’s arrangement and has already collected 13 Test caps.
His representative, Eddie Hearn, had previously argued that Pollock could eventually command a seven-figure salary due to his growing profile and commercial potential.
Hearn revealed that considerably more lucrative offers were rejected in favour of remaining with Saints.
“He left a lot of money on the table to stay with Northampton,” Hearn said.
“But it wasn’t even a tough decision for him.”
Northampton director of rugby Phil Dowson had acknowledged that the club needed to find a “happy medium” when negotiating a deal capable of keeping one of England’s brightest young talents.
Pollock recently admitted that he would like to experience playing abroad at some stage of his career, while also expressing an interest in trying other sports.
For now, however, his immediate future remains at the club he supported as a child.
“I’m massively happy to re-sign with Saints, my boyhood club,” Pollock said.
“It’s an exciting place to be right now. We’re in a great spot as a team, but it feels like there’s still so much more growth in us.
“I’m still young, and we’ve got a young squad with a brilliant group of lads. Some of my best mates are here, and every day everyone pushes each other to improve and be the best players and team we can be.
“For where I am in my career, this is exactly where I want to be.”
